Or was it productive? Maybe not in the way that you had previously defined productivity but maybe in a completely different way. Every day can be productive, it just depends on how we define it and what we measure it against. But even if it wasn’t, don’t call it a bad day.

The other isn’t a step backward or forward -it’s just a way for you to stay busy, to keep working on something, to keep looking like you’re making changes. But you’re not, you’re just doing it wrong. When we have a great weather day – we say it is perfect for anything and everything. The sun is out, it’s not too hot or cold, and the possibilities are endless as we breathe it in – whether it’s doing chores, chilling out, etc. What about work though? What is the perfect work weather? No updates to process on your laptop? All devices fully charged? Alone in the office? Pens and books at the ready? A coffee (or tea) in hand? I was asking someone the other day how I could improve at playing soccer. Their response is – “You run too fast in the first, but are more successful when you slow down in the second.” Truth, I do better in the second, I calm down more, I relax more, I’m warmed up, I have a feel for the game, who we’re playing, who I’m playing with – everything at that point in time is known. Tools are great for making tasks you know and understand go faster. I.e., I know how to use a screwdriver, a drill is much faster, and the purpose of the drill is to make holes and screw in screws faster. I know the problem, I have the solution. However, if you are buying a tool that you “think” will solve a problem, but doesn’t really and adds a lot of overhead to what you are doing – it’s not going to help you.
