How about Fixing Traffic?

If there is a problem that everyone in the world has experienced at some point in their lives, it is traffic.

Whether in a car or stuck behind someone on a sidewalk, traffic is where we can spend a long time thinking about life.

Because what else are you going to do?

There really isn’t much.

And yet, we have done nothing to solve the traffic problem.

And when I say solve, I don’t mean “alleviate”, “minimize”, or “reduce”, I mean solve the problem of traffic.

Get me from Point A to Point B without any issues whatsoever, without an accident. When I say it will take 25 minutes to get somewhere, don’t let me worry or factor in the gas calculation or time to sit and wait.

Traffic, not an easy problem to solve, alleviate, sure maybe, but solve very, very difficult.

And we all know the answer (or one of the answers), and that is “spread out”, reduce core locations, allow for remote options, etc, etc.

Those solutions would have a strong chance of fixing traffic (whether we want to be moved around or not) and getting us closer to creating a framework to solve the problem.

But we’d all have to buy in, we’d all have to support the system, we’d all have to agree on our path.

And that’s the problem when trying to fix things like Traffic, they are big problems beyond the scope of our group, team, or company.

But if you could fix it for your team – what would you do?

Maybe that’s the place to start.
