Despite everything we have advanced in application, the one that still lags behind as a brutal throwback to the earliest websites are login pages.
Username, Password, Forgot Password.
Sure, we have mixed and matched them with expiry links and codes (oh so many codes), but the structure and nature of the page is still the same – username and password.
Nothing here has changed; sure, we have authenticator apps and codes – but the concept of login pages has spun out entire software product lines to manage the myriad of passwords we have.
In whatever you are building, you are going to have some part of a “thing” that resembles login pages, it’s there because it’s the only way to do it and has been there forever.
