I received an email recently from a recruiter recently that only consisted of the title of the job in the subject line and a copied description in the body.

No – hello.

No – what’s up.

No – what do you think.

The goal was for me to respond with either a yes or no before a real conversation took place.

That was the gate and it was up to me to decide what to do next, to see if this job title piqued my interest.

The truth was it did, but ten minutes later I got an email from a different recruiter asking if this would fit my profile if I was interested in new opportunities, what I was up to and whether I wanted to have a call to discuss further with a link to their phone number.

Guess who got the call?

Which one had more effort?

Which one had a bigger return on investment?

Which one will grow in the long run?
