It seems every new piece of software I download lately, I get a badge for installing the software.

I get another badge for telling someone about it.

If I do the most basic of things, I get another badge.

If I do nothing, I have a chance at getting a badge for pondering what to do and taking my time.

(Perhaps not the last one, but you get the idea).

The idea behind Gamification is a great one, but we’ve over abused to the point that standing up is now a badge.

It’s not.

A badge is something you work towards, something you strive for, something you put in effort to achieve.

Badges aren’t givens, not everyone gets one, only the ones who show up and put their best effort in.
