You’re at the right spot, but maybe you’re not at the table yet.
You’re doing all the right things to earn a spot, but for some reason have not been formally invited.
You’re probably contributing more than the people who are there and generating more value than anyone wants to realize.
But still no seat at the table.
At this point, you have two options;
- Force your seat.
- Set your own table.
Forcing your seat is easy: I have this role, I should be there, give me a seat.
Setting your own table is harder; you have to create the table, you have to sit at it, and you have to wait for others to show up to see if they are interested in being at your table, wondering why there is a second table and if they want to stay.
#1 is immediate; #2 is harder, much harder; it takes will, resolve, and strength to ignore not being at a table you so richly deserve and starting your own, wondering why you actually have to start own.
#2 pays off, #1 pays.
