Releasing the Kraken (Sometimes)

You can call it crunch time, the last push, the final mile, etc, etc – whatever works for you. In the end it is still overtime. Whether it is paid or not is irrelevant. If I pay you time and a half to work 16 hours for the next four months but the third month you will be burnt out with nothing left to give. What you will be contributing to the project will be declining returns as you start to make mistakes you don’t normally make, making the extra pay worthless. This is what you’ve been waiting for. This is what you’ve been working towards. This is what you want so badly it hurts. This is what you’ve stayed up late for and come in early to finish. This is what your team has been building towards. And when it happens, make sure you enjoy it, make sure you soak it in and make sure you take a second to appreciate that moment. Even the Best Get Nervous

I found this YouTube video of Tony Hawk awhile back that was shot as he was trying out a new trick that many of would fine impossible to do. My favourite part in all of it, was the anxiety he felt in trying to do something new, the push to get there, the lumps and bruises he was taking to get there.
