If you can’t trust your team to do the boring, grunt, not that much interesting work to the best of their abilities, and pass in top-notch code and effort. Then they definitely should not be working on the cool stuff. Grunt work is the litmus test for whether they can handle the cool stuff.

I read the other day that the worst message Vibe Coders can receive in building their apps is – “You have Reached your Limit”. And then that is it for the next 4 – 8 hours if you wait for it to reset. The difference in developers is that their limit goes on far longer. We hit walls, and we keep going. We can’t find the answer, it spurs us on. Fuelled by tokens, no thanks, caffeine will do just fine (or possibly pizza, but Thai food works too). I’ve hit “reached your limit” and it wasn’t from tokens. Don’t

Tokens in AI are like quarters in the arcade when you want to have the next game. But the token consumption is always going up, just like the really good games were mucho quarters. The whole point of the quarter on the screen was to put your money up there – “I’m going next” – you weren’t waiting for anyone. You were taking your chance, whether you lost to the champ or not. Now’s the time to put your quarter on the screen.

I’ve re-read a few books over time whenever I’m in a rut, some are timeless that can always give you that kick to realize what you need to focus on and get back into gear. The Dip by Seth Godin. 7 Habits by Steven Covey. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Steal Like and Artist by Austin Kleon. All great books, all small, all focused and to the point. If you haven’t read them, all applicable to whatever you are doing now.
