Tell the Story

Stories save us in learning, they are what help us understand what to avoid, where to go, and what to do. They save the work of trying everything out on your own. They can be simple or complex, but in the end, the value they provide to what you are doing is what makes adoption simpler.  They tear down the barriers to growth by getting through the what-ifs. They can make you smile and relax in everything you do. They are the tools that we all need to leverage – tell the story.

What Matters to the Team isn’t what Matters to the Individual

The team needs a leader, the individual needs a mentor. You lead the team, by connecting with the individuals and figuring out what they need to buy into the vision.  Some will resist, they can’t see it on the first, the second, or the eighteenth day. They have different viewpoints, different goals, and different ideas – the leader brings them into the focus of the team, not ignoring them but finding how they connect to the team’s vision so what the individual needs help with lines up with what the team needs.

Break it Down to Basics

You can’t argue that breaking down a complex task into it’s simplest components is the best way to tackle a problem. And yet too often, we want to look at it as one, huge assuming mass and deal with it then and there. Not every fire needs a firehose, sometimes it needs smaller, more tactile options to resolve. Sometimes we need to take a step back, write them down and then move forward with them.
