Our Greatest Failure if Software Delivery Teams

Yesterday’s unit test results. Last week’s build breakage. Last month’s bad update. Last year’s roll-out that went sideways and didn’t make it in until the third try. Where did all this Anger come from?

Seriously, where did it all come from? I’ve been trying this Tim Ferriss experiment off and on for the last few months where I totally disconnect from all news outlets and don’t consume anything. The most I’ve gone is a week. Then I lapse, I take a quick peek, which leads to even more peeks and soon I’m back to consuming everything. And the one thing that I’m always gobsmacked by? Is where did all this anger come from? When did we become offended and mad so easily? Was it always like this? Is it all amplified into sound bites?
