Sniffing Markers – We’re Back

We were gone for a long, long time but now we’re back and maybe it’ll only be me that’s back (still working on the other guy).  The music is new, the format’s a little different and I’m looking to get back to our bi-weekly schedule.  Why? The Man.

Stan Lee passed away on Monday. Much has been posted on the work he was a part of with the Marvel movies that have become a mainstay of theaters for the last few years. But I knew of him way before that, when he was doing work for work and not for movies.  When he was creating the universe that so many enjoy today.   It took over 30 years to create that universe along with many other visionaries that added their own flare to it.  His cameos were cute and introduced him to a completely new audience, but his work, his

Take A Day

And do something for you. Not a spa date but something worthwhile that you’ve been putting off for a long time. Don’t time it, see how much you can do in a day. See where you get to. See how hard it is. See where you want to go next (if you want to go somewhere next). But start with a day. (This sounds silly and if you think it is, before you do, tell everyone you’re taking a day, not to go on vacation, not be sick but to do ____________ (whatever it is you want to work on). 

Still Not Done

Still struggling. Still falling over. Still ticked off. Still haven’t figured it out. Still not sure where to start. Still not sure what to do next. Still stuck. As long as you’re “Still not waiting to start” you’re much further than everyone else that is behind you.

This is not…

Building some conditional logic is not Artificial Intelligence. Storing customer preferences is not Machine Learning. Copying your on-premise code to a cloud Virtual Machine is not Cloud Services. Adding more memory to your server is not Scaling it up. Your role is to make sure your customer knows what you are and what you are not building for them. Don’t hide your delivery behind buzzwords.
