Failure Isn’t Everything

We romanticize failure infinitely too much. Yes, to grow you need to fail. But if you are failing all the time and in a spectacular fashion, perhaps the goal shouldn’t be to keep failing but to find a way to generate a win so you can build on that. At some point we need to succeed.

The Pursuit of Next

Next is what we are all after. We don’t always know what next is, but we know it is the next thing that we want to go for, it’s the next thing we want to achieve. The goal then is to figure out what you need to do, to get to Next, and start the plan to get there. Sounds like lots of “thinking” work and not enough “doing” work, but if you’re not willing to think about where you want to go, how will you know what you are going to do when you get there?

Our Inner Narrative

There is an inner monologue that plays on a loop within us on a daily basis. It is our narrative, the story we have written, but never put to keyboard or paper. Our narrative forms our worldview and when they are challenged, we push back. Why? Because that narrative has guided our life, our career, and our well-being for as long as we can remember.  We have had back and forth conversations with our narrative where our success rate is 100%. Our narrative is designed to handle small, incremental change because that’s how it works, big change doesn’t go over

When the Team Grows

You work with them individually. You work with them as a team. You put in the time and effort to teach them the good, the bad, and the ugly. You coach and mentor them through every struggle and triumph. But the team only grows when you do one thing. Step back and let them run themselves.
