Training your Team

Only you know the training your team needs and only you know the path it requires for them to get there. They might be able to see it on the first day and it’s up to you to figure out how to get them there. You can either hold it into the very last day, or you can start from the beginning, map it out, do bit by bit every day, week, or month and plan for the moment when they get there and go – “I know this”.  Because when training the team, it’s not today they are being

Team Ignition

You can plan for it but guaranteed it won’t happen you want it to. Team Igntion happens the moment your team comes together and things start clicking amongst everyone in the group.  Everything starts happening and pieces start moving forward. You don’t know what made it happen, why it started now and not before, but this is the moment where it all starts happening. You can create the conditions for it, you can nurture it and grow it, but when it happens is anyone’s guess, the worst thing you can do – is try to force it.  Forcing it only

Out of Office Evolved

Out of Office started as a physical associate with a building.  You were either in the building or out of it – hence the auto-response. Focussing on Team Wins

A team wins when a team comes together. Those wins will always be subjective to you as the leader of the team – you know the difference between when the team is doing what they should do versus when they do something really great and come together for something entirely special. There is no category A or B when you’re picking Team Wins – every team is different and has a different set of goals and wins – don’t compare yourself to other teams – focus on what your wins are and make sure to celebrate them.

Failure to Sprint

When you learned how to walk and fell flat on your face the first time did you give up? (Maybe for a bit). The same goes for Sprints and any new development process you are implementing – it’s not success out of the box – it’s a slow burn growth and then mass acceleration once it clicks with your team. If you fail to sprint the first time, start jogging the next (remove tickets), build up a tolerance, figure out what works for your team, and then try again. But don’t throw it all out because it didn’t work the
