Conferences are a great opportunity to connect with past and former, colleagues, meet new people, and get an overview of new topics.
There are some conference that will deep dive on 2 – 3 core topics but generally, they are a firehose of information coming your way.
The locale is different and a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues, pick everyone’s brain without work surrounding you, and just overall learn about what does and doesn’t work in the team and what you can do moving forward.
I haven’t been to a conference in a long time, but these are the feelings I remember, the enjoyment of being somewhere new (and figuring out how to get places), and learning about new trends and technologies while catching up with the team as we took a collective breather.
Conferences are good, you can get lots out of them, you can chat to experts and get loads of free samples, but they aren’t training, learning, but not training.
