Everyone has a different running pace that is perfectly attuned to our bodies, it is a system that is designed for us to be successful without hurting ourselves.
The same applies to the work we do; we have a pace that works for us – I might be able to do a few things at once and keep track of 3 – 4 projects concurrently, someone else might be able to do more or less.
But what happens when our paces don’t line up and we are on the same work together?
Do we drop to the slowest pace?
That doesn’t help those who can do more.
Do we race to the fastest pace?
That can be prone to injury and mistakes if we don’t prepare adequately.

Do we meet somewhere in the middle – so we get a bit of each world and a taste for something more?
Our pace can change over time, we can do less, we can do more – when it comes to the pace of the team, what matters is the end goal – what is the team striving towards? Who is responsible for what?
Can you line up your work to be ready when someone else’s is just starting?
Everyone runs at different speeds, but the leader makes sure that what gets delivered is always on the same pace.
