When you’re younger, everyone is pushing you to keep up It’s an all-out assault on the senses as every person you meet is giving you advice on what you should and shouldn’t do.
There is a big push to keep up as there are invariably more people ahead of you then behind (its just numbers).
Finding someone to keep up with is easy; even in professional circles, there are many, many places for you to look.
Eventually, things shift as more people try to keep up with you, and the pressure wanes as you no longer need to keep up with someone.
But you still need that push, you still need that drive, that kick, because your work is not over.
You always need something to push for.
