Software and technology are not so ubiquitous that I am carrying someone’s laptop everywhere I go.

And it’s a toss-up whether I get the “old model” or the “new ones we’re rolling out”.

Some are good, some aren’t, and eventually we all need an upgrade.

Instead, let everyone buy whatever they want and roll out VDI – I’m sure there are issues to fix, but that way people are at the very least getting to work with the machine that gives them the best comfort and maximum productivity.

If you’re asking them to lug it around, make it something worthwhile to do so.
