The Second Time

The Second Time you do anything, it will be better. Maybe not by much, but it will be better. By the Third and Fourth times, you will continue to see additional improvement. And if you follow through for the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth times, more changes occur. But only if you are able to get through that second time first.

Do I Make you Want to Show Up Differently?

If you have someone on your team, that makes you want to show up better, earlier, and smarter than the day before. Then that person is your leader. It doesn’t matter what’s on the org chart; they are your leaders, and they are the ones who will make you better than you are today. Volunteer to work with them. Ask them questions. Get them to review your work. Listen to their feedback and apply it. This is the person you want to work with and learn from. This is the person that will help you grow and leapfrog others.

The Climb

The Climb is arduous, slippery, rocky, fraught with danger. The Climb doesn’t care whether you make it or not, it’s there for you to do what you will with it. The Climb doesn’t care about what threats come your way – whether the weather gets worse or better, whether they’re predators waiting to strike at your weakest moment. Follow-Ups Will Always Win

You can apply for any job. Post any comment. Send any email. Tag them. But what will always win is the follow-up. “Did you get my application?” “Did you want to discuss further?” “Got time for a coffee?” “Can I send you my portfolio?” The follow-ups won’t get you to the top; they might not get you anywhere, but they will get you further up in the list. It’s possible you might annoy people and not get what you want. But, no one can ever say you didn’t go beyond the “Apply” button.
