Change Your Title For a Day

You don’t have to make it public or share it on social media. Do it internally if that’s easier. But change it and adopt it for the day. Maybe today you’re a “Data Mapper” or a “Metal Head Linguist” or a “Skating Scribe”. Whatever it is, change your title and through it, change your narrative about who you are, what you want to do and where you want to go. It’s not about rioting against the one that defines what you do in your job, it’s about defining the one for who you are.

Create Your Own Metrics in 2018

So after writing Measure Your Mark for 2017, I thought I should try and create some own metrics that I wanted to measure my year against. This isn’t about followers, likes, comments, subscriptions but rather everything I want to do. Have you ever experienced that glow effect around your code? That bright aura that starts off as a dim light but slowly grows brighter and brighter? The more scenarios and changes that are thrown at your code, the better it performs, updates and minimizes downtime? Not only does your code look good but so do you? Actually, people don’t even talk about it being your code any more it’s simply the “INSERT_APP_CODENAME_HERE” – it was a life of its own and commands the respect of all those that connect and interface with it.
