When working with a new group, you need an early adopter, someone that buys into what you are doing and can help push the idea to everyone. This is your leader, the person that you can get to buy into what you are doing and work with you to get your message out, this is someone who will always be listening and never doubting what you are saying. This person will help get the rest of the team onboard so your message can get out and grow faster. Ask yourself, whose your leader and what do you need to do

Good Leaders show up every day, keep things humming, and tell everyone they are doing a great job. Great leaders show up every day, they ensure the team is working on the right things at the right time and aren’t afraid to make a call to change the direction of the ship if it means the team can get better and stronger, they are always looking towards what is coming down the pipe, prepping it for what is to come and most importantly, they give feedback to help their team grow and level up.

Team events don’t need to be expensive, they can definitely be simple and their entire goal is to bring people together, have some laughs, and get to know each other better. Everything is directed by Value

We get frustrated when we undertake activities when we cannot see the value they derive. Inevitably this is the response of our team as well. Everyone wants to be doing things of value. The goal then is to make sure you can draw the line between those that do generate value (focus on those) and those that don’t (eliminate those too) and ensure you are doing the same for your team.

Its a Numbers Game

How fast is the system? How many hours did you work? How many bugs are still open? How long is the Sprint? When can we ship? How many tickets are closed? How many users can we handle? It’s all a numbers game, the value, your value, is providing the context around those numbers so the numbers are not taken at face value for what they are outside of what you are doing. And if your value is in providing the context, why are you so focused on gathering the numbers?
