Make what you have work.

You don’t need top of the line gear to get going and if you think you do, talk to someone who has been doing it for years and they will tell you.

I have aspirations of starting a Podcast in 2017 and when I sat down with a Podcaster (who’d been doing it for a number of years) and ask him what I needed he told me to go download some free software, spend no more than $100 on a mic and get started.

Get Started and worry about improving the gear later – it’s not going anywhere and it’s your idea that needs to start going somewhere.

  1. I’d argue that you need the right tool for the right job, and if you want quality you need a basic quality tool.

Ie. if you want to make beer. You need the right tools and good ingredients. If you don’t have that, you will likely not make beer or your beer will be crap…at minimum you need good sterilizing equipment, the right pots and good yeast…

For your podcast, you need good fresh ideas/content and a good mic/camera. Like you always say, if you don’t care about the quality of your product, why bother making it?

You need good ingredients and the right tools to make a good bread.
