Delete One Thing

Our tendency is to “Scorch Earth” when something isn’t going right instead of to tweak it. On your phone too much? Toss it out. The Project not going well? Start over from scratch. Platform keeping you down? Go find a new one. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Instead of tossing your phone, delete the offending app(s) and see what changes. Instead of starting over on your project, focus on an area of improvement to be better for the next meeting. Help Out or Get Out

Changing Roles

I ended on this yesterday and wanted to expand on it more. If you have someone on your team that isn’t succeeding in their role but they are an incredible talent to the team. It could be they are in the wrong role and don’t know how to get out. Help them – if it’s moving to another team, giving them a different role to perform, whatever – help them. Having a great resource on your team that is continually frustrated because they are not doing what they are meant for is a hard sell to stay. You don’t want

People Enjoy What They Do Best

It’s not rocket science, it’s truth. So find something you love, something you enjoy and make it work. If it’s an end goal, find the steps to get there and if you aren’t enjoying the steps to get there, maybe that’s a sign. There is no rush to get to the top, there’s only disappointment in knowing you’re on the wrong mountain and not going to where you want to be. And the same goes for your team, you know when people aren’t doing what they do best, so help them find that path. Positions can always change, but good
