The In-Betweener

The In-Betweener works in the shadows, between problems, trying to find solutions. The only time you will realize all that they do, is when they are not there, where issues and problems begin to arise at an increasing rate. They keep the tensions low, they keep things from simmering over and they always keep their eye on the prize. The In-Betweener is the person on your team you never interviewed for but are glad they joined your team.

Software is an art. Software is creative. How you learn, how you get to where you want to go, where you start from, there are so many incredible paths that you can take to get there, it boggles the mind. Finding Your Goals

There are a number of things out there that you can do. But only some you can do well. And only some you can spend the time to learn and grow at. And only very few can you achieve. You’ll be drawn into many areas over your career as people think you are “great” and “built to do this” but if it clashes with your end goals, with where you want to be in the end. All it will do is anger you and leave you frustrated. Take the time, to find what it is, you really want to do.

Two Questions To Always Be Asking

In case you are confused about what you are working on or the direction you are headed in there are two questions you should always be asking of yourself and your team. What is the problem we are trying to solve? How does the solution benefit the customer? If you are always answering those questions with the customers interests in your mind, you are on the right path. Any missteps you make in between will be forgiven if you’re always, always clear on your direction formulating around those two questions.
