Good.

Now that you know it, let other people know.

Go to any developer site and you’ll find posts upon posts about battling Impostor Syndrome – yup it’s a thing.

The biggest reason that Impostor Syndrome has become such a huge thing is that there are environments that incubate this feeling of inadequacy and not being sure of what you can do to the point that it belittles your confidence.

Yes we are all too hard on ourselves sometimes (many) but think back to your first part-time job – did you feel like an impostor working as a cashier? flipping burgers? moving stock?

No.

Did you know how to do all those things when you started?

No.

Did you have an environment that fostered learning?

Yes.

Build an environment that fosters learning, growth, and development. That is how you will eliminate some, hopefully, the worst, of these feelings.

It’s okay to not be ready, as long as you are prepared to take the steps to get there.
