When you are small, everyone and everything is within reach – you are all close together, all next to each other.

You can smell the excitement and fear as you push code into production. It’s not one person doing it, it’s everyone, waiting, with bated breath to see what happens.

When a customer calls in with an issue, everyone is watching the chat conversation or listening to the speaker.

Everyone is there, everyone is involved – your success is predicated upon how much everyone has and wants to put into making it a success.

You are all connected at the elbow.

At some point, you won’t be able to remain connected by the elbow, you are going to need to separate, individuals will lead teams and those teams will spawn new leaders in the organization.

This is the path of growth.

If you are in the elbow model right now, this is your path, to deliver while keeping an eye on how to grow, because the goal of Elbow to Elbow is to not stay in it for too long, but to grow into something bigger.
