No matter what it looks like, couches will always be heavy.

They will be awkward and never quite align with where you are moving to and from.

You will push them down the stairs and they will live there for years.

And they will always be heavy.

And then, when it is put into the room, they will sit there for years doing their job for as long as you have them.

They will have drinks spilled on them and treasures falling between the cracks.

And if you’re wearing the wrong pants, your phone will slide out and get lost.

But make no mistake, there is no such thing as a light couch.

When they are moved into a location, they will stay in that location for a long time to come.

Such is the beauty of the couch, rugs might bring a room together, but a couch, after all that grunting and sweating and working it into place – they get the high-fives, the flopped sitting and the “ah, we finally made it.”

It’s worth the lift.
