Microsoft put out this fun article this past week on the Top 40 jobs threatened by AI and those that are seemingly secure. The full article is here.
Hats off to the use of Top 40, invoking the vibes of Casey Kasem’s weekly Top 40 that I listened to as a kid for years.
In the Top 40, most affected jobs…
#5 Authors and Writers – Because we no longer will want creative, innovative thoughts and stories being created.
#17 Mathematicians – Because AI will always get math right? What about all those unsolvable puzzles from Goodwill Hunting?
#20 Hosts and Hostesses – Yes, nothing warms the soul more than being greeted at a restaurant by a machine and not a person, especially when you’re trying to explain, “I’m sorry I’m late, please, it’s my daughter’s 3rd birthday!”
#22 Business Teachers – Because we don’t need to know how to run companies anymore, we can just generate them, let them do their thing, and die? No need to keep them going?
#36 Personal Financial Advisors – Because no one has ever wanted to hear the experience of a Financial advisor and their perspective on markets, managers, and growth.
AI will definitely change the game, just as the internet did and changed many jobs before us. When the internet boom happened, we didn’t have social media, so it was not thrown in our face as often as it is now.
Oddly enough, this survey was put together by a bunch of Data Scientists who came in as one of the most impacted professions at #29.
Your job will change; you cannot compete with AI on quantity, but you can compete with it on quality, value, and intent.
You control that growth.
