In the Mood to Create?

Are you ever in the right mood? To create… something different? To write… something new? To code… an idea on a napkin? To draw… a picture in your head? To go to the gym? You don’t have to be in the mood to do something, you simply need to be willing to put in the time to get it done. The Off Season

The season where we don’t work. We don’t up our game. We don’t do extra training to learn a new skill. We don’t reflect on what did and didn’t work. We don’t think of new ideas and approaches. It’s a sports reference to time off between seasons but it can just as easily be a reference to the work you are doing today.

What is Success?

Doing the work that you don’t really want to do but is paramount for you to do so you can focus on what will take you there. In other words: You are not going to get away from all the mundane tasks that go along with your startup when you start out (and there are many). This is a test. The test is whether you are dedicated enough to put in the effort to do an exemplary job on the mundane before you get to the cool stuff.

Be the Glue

I wrote this presentation a few years ago on how to Build a Great Team but I forgot a critical element to it all. The Glue – you need someone who is the glue on your team. Maybe it’s your Manager or Team Lead or maybe it’s the one that’s setting up Virtual Machines on a daily basis. But whether it’s one person or many or rotates between a few – you need that Glue. They get you on the Browsing

Social Media isn’t really that bad. Post some updates. Take some pictures. Tag some people. Even with the pickiest of personalities, you can do that in under 10 minutes – tops.
