How long does it take to find your Niche?

As a Freelancer that is always trying to define their niche, this is no easy task.  On a recent podcast by Seth Godin, he mentioned that if you can find 1,000 people to define your niche you are in great shape. One thousand people… One thousand people… I’m stuck on trying to get past ten right now (okay maybe more than that but you get the idea). The Clicking Moment

When you are coaching, mentoring, teaching or leading someone, the best moment is when it clicks. It’s the moment where all those hours, days, weeks, months and/or years of persistent effort, working side-by-side with one another finally pays off. Not with monetary gains, trophies, recognition, likes or posts. But with the acknowledgement that it finally “clicked”, it came together, it worked. And now you get to move onto something new. That’s the moment all leaders need to strive for with their team in fostering a culture of growth and development.

Catching Up on Netflix

I didn’t know this had become a job that time was set aside and prioritized in order to accomplish. Nothing wrong with watching whatever but to place this on the same pedestal as a goal you want to achieve. Seems a little out of place. (Just don’t go blaming Netflix when things go sideways with what you really want to achieve).

Growth

When you are executing on Delivery, Drive, Initiative and Leadership, not timeboxed or componentized, but concurrently, each day, every day you grow. I have to be clear on this last point.  You will amaze people with your skillset and they will immediately want you to “keep doing what you are doing” or “focus in on this particular area”.   Whether it aligns to where you want to go and what you want to do is up to you.  How you grow, the metrics you determine will be very different from the ones that they assign to you or that others
