My iPhone and Maslow

A couple of days ago, I checked into my hotel, I’d been on the road all morning and my phone had been drained.  It was down to 25% battery life which is a literal translation to “I will leave you within the hour.“ I was hungry and wanted to eat, so I plugged my phone in and I seriously stared at if for the next 30 seconds and contemplated – “Do I go to lunch without my phone?  What if an email comes in and I miss it?  What if there is a text and I don’t get it?” How

The Open Letter Myth

I love these cycles of Open Letters going round and round – for awhile there is nothing and then we start seeing them all over the place – then they die down again. Email Is Becoming an Authentication Only Technology

I still use email, some days I get way too much, some days it is manageable.  It is the mode of communication I most use when communicating with people.  I try not to write extensive novels, summaries or briefs when writing an email but only to get an idea across.  I have a rule that when a mail thread goes past 5 responses, if I feel the need to respond, I answer with – “This mail requires a meeting” and leave it at that. My children, and those of their age do not use email the way I and may

Welcome to the Presentation

Big or small – it’s always been a goal of mine to speak at a developer conference on a topic of pretty much anything where the focus is solely on getting the information out there.  Like anything in life you cannot go straight to uber Architect, you need to put in the time and hustle to make it happen.  Outside of your place of employment, no one is going to hand it to you, you need to go get it. This morning I did that. This isn’t the first presentation I’ve done, but I’d easily say the first one where
