Can I Script it?

If I can’t, I’m not interested. Because whatever you have built, whatever you have created, no matter how good the GUI is, one day I’m going to want to automate it. And if I can’t automate it, I’m going to throw it against the wall in disgust because now I know in the back of my head that I will always have to fire up your app and stare at this gorgeous GUI taking up my time as I wait for it to finish its task. The Clicking Moment

When you are coaching, mentoring, teaching or leading someone, the best moment is when it clicks. It’s the moment where all those hours, days, weeks, months and/or years of persistent effort, working side-by-side with one another finally pays off. Not with monetary gains, trophies, recognition, likes or posts. But with the acknowledgement that it finally “clicked”, it came together, it worked. And now you get to move onto something new. That’s the moment all leaders need to strive for with their team in fostering a culture of growth and development.

What Happens when Process beats People

The people move on. They learn that this is “how it is” and that nothing will ever change. They realize that their leadership would rather trade paper and theory for the people that are standing right in front of them. As it crystalizes in their minds they now start to understand the adage of “you don’t leave a company, you leave the team/leader you are on”. Ship Every Day

If you’re trying to accomplish 4 – 5 projects concurrently that you’ve identified as being of value and where you want your focus to be. You need to ship on those projects each and every day. It doesn’t matter if it’s 5 minutes, 2 hours, the entire afternoon or all day. You ship something that you didn’t ship yesterday every day. Assuming you do 5 minutes a day for a week – that’s 35 minutes a week. Now multiply that by 4 weeks in a month and you have 140 minutes a month. Twelve months in a year, 1,680 minutes
