When we think of a vacuum of “something” we think of an emptiness, a loss, a hole of something that should be there.

Its worst than that.

A vacuum is the motion by which something is there is sucked out into something else. So when we talk about Vacuum of Leadership we are really talking about those skills being sucked out of one area to another area.

We see this quite often in the re-juggling of projects when a leader is moved from project to project creating a vacuum effect as all that knowledge, leadership, and guidance gets moved between them (the projects).

The question always asked is – what do we do on the project with the hole now in it when what we should be asking is – why do we keep moving this person from project to project leaving a hole in their wake and how do we fix that problem.
