It used to be that you could take your entire codebase, drop it on a laptop, and code to heart’s content without having to worry about online connections and wifi connections.

Now, you have to be connected all the time to get at your data, to validate the service from another partner.

Coding Offline, in a cave, by yourself is a thing of the past.

Mock frameworks, services and localized databases can enable you to be able to do that.

But you need to set it all up and if it’s not your first instinct to do so, then it makes it tricky to do so.

Just like having to code on the mainframe at a specific point in time at a library was a thing, so is being able to code offline without a required connection.
