Before It Becomes a Problem

We all can see problems before they actually “become” a problem. We all see the signs and know where it is going to lead. But we all don’t do something, anything about it. It’s easier to not do something if the first person you talk to doesn’t listen. It’s easier to tell yourself it’s not a problem if the second person ignores you. It’s easier to sulk away when the third person laughs at you. It’s much harder to open the bug, do the work, check it in and not say word with the only customer appreciating your work.

Great vs Meh

Whether it’s people, products, projects, teams or leaders. Everyone will agree we all want what’s Great. For our customers, for our team, for our delivery, for everything. But most of the time we settle for Meh because it’s cheaper and faster and those are our driving metrics. What we are forever forgetting is that the metric that takes you from Meh to Great is Quality. Which is the first to be left behind.

Change is a Battle

It’s a monster standing in front of you surrounded by all your fallen allies. It’s waiting with nostrils flaring for you to come up and take a swipe. When you put everything into your first punch and swing and miss, it’s there laughing at you while holding you down. As you get up to try again, it’s kicking sand on you egging you on to try again while it waits for you to return. How it ends is up to you. Whether you get back in there and try again is your choice. But make no mistake, people are afraid

No One Can Stop You From Doing Something You Love

Unless you let them. So the question is – if someone tells you, you did a bad job, are you going to let that stop you from doing something you love? (hint: I can’t answer this, only you can, but hopefully seeing it written down will point you in the right direction).

Don’t Hold Back

The only person you hurt when you hold back on giving your best effort is you. If the team is not up to your level, you bring them up, otherwise you are letting them down. If your intensity and commitment is different than everyone else’s, you share that with the team so they know where you are coming from. If you see problems that they don’t, bring them up to speed, don’t wait for them to figure them out. But don’t Hold Back. Don’t hold back on your own Drive and Delivery just because someone else is.Let loose
