Working Angry?

Can you do it? Can you actually work angry? Draw angry? Code angry? Practice angry? Write angry? Create angry? I don’t think you/we can.  I think it’s near impossible.  I think anger can give us a push in the direction to do something, to make something happen, to not give up when it’s all we want to do. But I don’t think we can do all those things angry for the simple reason that when you sit down to work, you take a deep breath, say your mantra and get to it – and everything else falls away. Why not to Listen to the Critics

Before it’s weekend release, the movie Venom (not released by Marvel) received a 30% rating right as audiences were going in the door. At the end of the weekend, it broke all records for an October weekend earning $80+ million. If ever there was an example to not listen to the critics, to do your own thing, to buck the trends, to try something new… this is it. Fun Fact: The Audience Score for Venom was 89% having liked it. Don’t let the Critics get you down.

Get Yourself a Right-Hand Man

Or woman. Washington knew all about it (as did Hamilton). The tune is great, but the message is even better. You need someone at your side to help you get over the mountain. You need someone to keep you in multiple places at once when you can’t be. You need someone who can zig when you zag. You need someone to grow with you. You need someone to exceed you. Face it, you need a Right-Hand Man (or woman).

Trial and Error

I cannot believe this concept is not being taught in schools.  I was gobsmacked when one of my kids told me they had no idea what this meant. Here it is. Trial – you take the problem, you try and approach, and see it through. Error – you get an error in your approach, you fail, it doesn’t work out, something goes sideways, whatever you want to call it, but at the end of the error you go back to the Trial. You keep Trialing and Erroring until you hit Success. There is no shame in how many trials you
