A new Meeting Type

I call it the Upfront – it might have other names to you, but this is possibly the least offensive one. What happens at the Upfront? The upfront is a meeting where everyone that is attending knows that brutal honesty is required. There is no room for niceties and hand holding, it’s an all out discussion that would take place in a warroom if it were happening. There is a big problem and it requires everyone’s heads to get through it. The upfront is not there for solutioning, the upfront has only one goal – get everyone on the same

How long until your Estimates are right?

Three times. Three times until your estimates mean something on what you are working on. The First Time – You’re new to whatever it is you’re creating. This encounter made me think how everyone always needs to be challenged,

Avoiding Silos

Now more than ever, silos are on the rise. After a year of being physically separated, the toll is starting to take shape on your team. They might not have intended for it, but it’s happening, they are unnaturally forming silos. “I only work with these three people, I haven’t talked to this person in two months” where before they would see them every day and see the work they were doing and have quick chats on it. Work is being assigned in a tactical and transactional nature to get the work done and not collaborate with each other. It
