New Tools Exposing Old Problems

I had to buy a new pair of skates a few months ago – my old ones were broken, busted and in need of repair. I was dreading the process but knew I had to do it. First night out in them and I was flopping all over the place. The blades were higher, the ankles stiffer, the laces were new, the insoles not fully molded to my feet. These are all things that would take time to get them acclimated. But I didn’t want to waste time getting them acclimated, I wanted to use them now. Now I’m not

Inviting the Drama

Put post it notes everywhere so you never forget to do it no matter how busy you get. And don’t let anyone break it for you. If your new routine is going to force

It gets Fuzzy in the Middle

Of course it does. We start with great intentions, we know where we want to end up, but despite our best efforts, it always gets fuzzy in the middle. Code takes longer to build than what we planned for. Customers have many more questions than we imagined. The team changes a few times during the iteration. Processes need to be reworked to reach our final target. Whatever it is, when we look back, it’s always Fuzzy in that middle part where Delivery takes over. Sadly, this is also where we get the most frustrated with progress as it seems like
